Visit Tarsus and Mersin: In Tarsus visit St. Paul’s House and the Cleopatra Gate (also known as St. Paul’s Gate). Then visit the Christian Society in Mersin. Visit the city of Antakya, a starting point of all the missionary journeys of St. Paul. Also pass by the ruins of Issos where Alexander the Great defeated the Persian army in 333 BC. Visit St. Peter’s church, which is the place where the term ‘Christian’ was first used to define the followers of Jesus Christ. Also visit the Christian Society of Antakya.

 

Add in Cappadocia with its supernatural beauty of the landscape to your itinerary and visit the amazing underground churches and cities carved into the rocks by early Christians. Then perhaps travel on the famous Silk Road heading to Iconium. Today known as Konya, this city is very close to Lystra and Derbe. Konya is also known to be the birthplace of the sect of Whirling Dervishes.

 

Add the extensive ruins of Psidian Antiochia and move on to Colossae. Then visit the ruins of the ancient Hierapolis City located on the world-famous travertines of Pamukkale. Visit some of the Seven Churches of Revelations nearby. Laodicia, Sardes, Tyatira and Philadelphia will be on the route.

 

Continue to and stroll through the 2000 years old marble streets of Ephesus, which once defined as the jewel of the crown. Have a complete tour of the city including the Odeon, State Agora, Temple of Hadrian, and the Great Theater where St. Paul preached “There are no gods made with hands”. We also include a side trip to Mother Mary’s House where she is believed to have spent her last days.

 

Another aspiring day can be spent while visiting the ruins of Pergamum, Asclepion, Red Courtyard and Troy in Canakkale, which is located on the Dardanelles. Troas and Assos are two places visited by St. Paul.

 

A must see city, where east meets west, Istanbul, including Blue Mosque, Ancient Hippodrome Square, St. Sophia, Topkapi Palace and the Grand Bazaar should br added to your itinerary.
