Kars and Eastern Anatolia

Eastern Anatolia is a treasure hidden. This less developed province of Turkey, located in the northeastern part of the country has Mount Ararat with ruins of Arc of Noah, beautiful city of Kars with Russian influenced structures, lake of Van, standing alone Ishak Pasha palace which is in the UNESCO Tentative List of World Heritage Sites, Sarikamis skiing center famous for its crystal snow flakesas in the Alp, city of Erzurum as the attraction center of the region which also hosted various international winter sports events.

 

 

Kars alone is a treasure, it shares part of its closed border with Armenia. Kars contains numerous monuments, the most notable being the ruined Armenian city of Ani and the 9th century Church of the Apostles. Kars was the setting for the popular novel Snow by Nobel literature prize winner Orhan Pamuk.
